And today when sputniks are sweeping in the skies, when signs of total annihilation is at hand, when women and men are indulging in sin and living in an ungodliness, the people scream, "What meaneth this?" And the church doesn't have the answer. She's laying asleep.
 

But the Holy Spirit, God's immortal and eternal Light, is here to shine upon whosoever will and can receive It.

Now, here she is with a sputnik. We tried to fire one the other night; we thought we was going to do just as much as they did; rose three foot off the ground and fizzled out. Too much rock-and-roll and sin, we're weighed in the balance and found wanting. God, be merciful.
 

What are we going to do? What would happen if they'd send those sputniks up with those missiles, and say, "Surrender, or become a pile of dust in five minutes"? Of course, our government, to save life, would surrender. That's the only thing they could do.
 

Then what would happen to some of you Americans, all of us in here; not here, but I mean nationally speaking? Nationally speaking.

If the world was governed by Christ, we'd stack arms and there'd never be another bullet fired. We wouldn't have any use for sputniks and for hydrogen bombs to blow up people. And they could do it today if they want to. And we see it. How much more could Jesus come this very hour and take His Church away. Not one thing left but His coming... That's right. And we set as if, "Well, it... Well, I've heard that before." See, rejected.

No wonder sputniks are sailing the skies and the nations are fearing. We're at the end time. God's being merciful. Christ said, "If the work doesn't cut short for the elect, there'd even be no flesh saved."

What's the meaning of these sputniks in the skies? What's the matter? What is this modern Babylon that we're trying to build a machine to take us to the moon? You'll never make it. What's it all about? Science don't know. They're in a mad rush for something, and they don't know what it is, but there is a Man. There is a Man Who knows what it's all about; He was the One Who wrote it here. He knows how to read this Word. Oh, He knows what It means, for He's got THUS SAITH THE LORD. He promised it, "The works that I do shall you do also. If they call Me Beelzebub, the Prince of the house, how much more will they call His household." The handwriting's on the wall. The sputnik's in the skies, great earthquake everywhere, volcanoes coming up, tidal waves a breaking the shores... What is it? The handwriting, not only in the skies, but on earth. "There'll be signs in the heaven and on earth, men's heart failing. ("Oh we don't know what to do."), perplexed of time, distress..." What is distress? Distress between the nations, all of them. Just let one missile fly; that does it. What is it? There is a Man Who can interpret it.

And we were preaching this morning on the sputniks, and the missiles, how they can stand in Moscow and direct a missile to the middle of Fourth Street in Louisville and never leave Moscow. And it'll blow a hole in the ground a hundred and seventy-five feet deep, for a hundred and fifty miles around it. That's how big the hole would be. Three of them would destroy the entire world, shake it from it's orbit. Science, you see what side it's on? It's on the wicked side.

And I want you to notice this now, 'cause we have to cut short here on account of the prayer line. Did you notice what the Angel said, "I can't do nothing till you come hither." What was it? Was a message of deliverance. And before one speck of fire could fall from heaven, Lot had to get out of Sodom. And before one drop of rain fell from heaven, Noah went into the ark. And before the atom bomb can strike this nation, the church will go in the rapture to meet the Lord Jesus. And if the sputniks, and the missiles are set, and the hammers are pulled back, the Angels are all standing in order. Hallelujah. The great corridors of heaven is crowded full. The harps are all in tune. The great bands are already practiced up. There's a homecoming time pretty soon, for the church of the living God, who's been waiting His coming.

I just wonder tonight, feeling sorry for you standing around the wall, I can feel your anticipations. I just wonder, oh, if you'd be honest with yourself and with God just a moment. Do you really want to hurry and get out of this? There's a Man in the presence tonight, called the Lord Jesus. He has the ticket for you. And all you have to do is just give Him your heart; He will wash it in His own Blood and cleanse you from all sin and doubt and will take you to His heaven when He comes, and it might come before morning.
 

The sputniks... There's not one thing, the science says, you hear it every day on the radio when they're--on the television, when they're interviewing these science. They say there's not a thing to hinder this world from being blowed up at any minute. It just takes a good drink of vodka, and they'll pull a lever, and that's it. Hurry. The message is urgent. Hurry, escape. Run for your life. Get out of it. Come out from this modern Babylon. Get away from the walls. Can't you feel something tugging at your heart? If you're real spiritual and God's speaking to you... Surely if He spoke to those little birds, He can speak to you.

And today when we've got so much fear, and sputniks in the skies... I see where Russia's put up one successfully down there now that's over a ton. One of these days their going to wake up. And we're building shelter rests everywhere. What good's that shelter rest going to do you, when a hydrogen bomb... As I was talking, the privilege to some scientist recently, he said, "Brother Branham, that bomb will blow a hole in the ground a hundred and seventy-five feet deep for a hundred miles square." What if you were five hundred feet under the ground? Why, the concussion would break every corpuscle out of your body. What if you were hundreds of miles away? It would still do the same. God has made it. There is no hiding place down here except one; and we've got a bomb shelter. It's not made of steel, or it's not made underneath the earth; it's made out of feathers. Under His wings we will abide and be raptured before this thing takes place: safety and secure.

Oh, science and insurance companies say, "It's ninety percent men." Men's hearts fail; a sign, a post. Fearful sights in the heaven above: sputniks. Oh, we thought we had a--just secured as we could be, so we give away to modern rock-and-roll, and sin, and carrying on, and indulging in the things of the world, and let the church alone. Stay home on Wednesday night to see, "We Love Sucy," the televisions and things, and let the church set without anything.

Let's bow our head just a moment. How many want's to receive Him now, as your Saviour and your Lover. Raise your hands to Him. Will you? Say, "Me, Lord. Me, Lord." Look all over the building: up in the balconies. "Me, Lord. I know You're here. I can see and know sputniks in the skies. The handwriting's on the wall. This nation's gone. We are all gone, nothing left, no hope at all outside of Christ.

Hearts failing, fear, sputniks in the skies. One extra drink of vodka, and they could pull a little lever, and we'd would be powder in two minutes. And the world would fly plumb into the sun yonder. Just what the Scripture predicts it'll do. But remember the Church will go home before that happens. And if that could happen before morning, what could happen to the Church, when it goes first?

As it was in Sodom, it's going to be this way, because this is the burning time. You believe that? You better believe it, when hydrogen, and atomic bombs, and sputniks, and everything else's flying around you. You better be believing it, because it's coming.

Our heavenly Father, the Word is sharp, truly, Lord, and it cuts, but the people has sat just as patiently and sweetly. And, Father God, laying this foundation back to let these Christians know that they have not lost their covenant. It was given to them unconditionally. But they'll lose their reward if they don't come back into the promised land. Lost the joy, the world begin to creep into the church, we see how it's getting. And it's according to Thy Word. There's no way we can stop it, Father. But we're trying to get those who are willing to come, for we believe this is the eleventh hour call, the midnight cry is fixing to be given. Science says it's less than three minutes till midnight, when the whole world will be blowed to pieces. What if some fanatic would let one of them bombs loose tonight and it'd come into one of the radar screens? Every nation in the world would turn loose bombs. The world can't survive it, Father.
 

But before this happens, You made a promise that we'd be gone. So if it could happen before morning, the Sputniks... and the world could come to a end just in a moment, and we see it scientifically; then if it's that close, how close is the coming, when it'll come before that? The rapture of the church--we won't have to stand the judgments. You paid for that for us. We're in You, free from judgment. "When I see the Blood, I'll pass over you."

Now, God came down in a form of three Angels. Two of Them went down in Sodom and preached and called Lot out of Sodom before the burning of Sodom. Now, how--watch how He referred to that now, to the time of the falling of the fire. And if we have... we're...
 

If we're in our right mind, we can see that men in his achievement to capture the world, he's achieved something that's going to destroy the world and himself with it: atomic and hydrogen bombs. And it could happen before daylight. It could happen in a few minutes. The whole world might get in these sputniks and just say, "Well, you want to perish or surrender?" What would we do? See?
And it's laying in the hands of sinful men. What if somebody happens to drink too much vodka someday, and turn one of those missiles loose? Every nation's got them ready just to pull. Why, the world couldn't survive it.

And if that--and if that ain't the world today, I don't know the world. They have had grace, power, and seen the signs of the age, the signs of time: God writing, and with His hand in nature, great fearful sights in the skies that they don't know, flying saucers they call them, and everything; sputniks, and whatever you want to call them, astronauts flying in the skies; fearful signs, earthquakes, divers places, sea roaring, men's hearts failing; fear, perplexed of time, distress between nations... All the things that He has promised, we have seen those handwritings on the wall. We have seen it with our eyes.

What's science preparing for you? More death. That's right. Sputniks and everything going up, and all these things that's scatter death and everything across the earth. Don't look to that; turn your head higher than that, towards heaven. Look where Jesus sets on the right hand of God tonight, ever living to make intercessions on our confession of what we believe His Word to be: the Truth.
