The Two Witnesses

Moses and Elijah

This is the beginning of my reasons why I believe that the Two Witnesses, Moses and Elijah was a MYSTERY and was fulfilled in the MINISTRY of our prophet. There will be NO two (2) literal men come in a 3 1/2 symbolic years of tribulation. It would be contrary to God's program and the scriptures of the Bible. There is more to come on this.

FEAST.OF.THE.TRUMPETS_ JEFF.IN V-3 N-16 SUNDAY_ 64-0719M

39-4 And at the same time... Now, as soon as this Church, the Bride is drawed together, she's taken up; in that MYSTERY of the Seventh Seal, or the Seventh Seal, the MYSTERY going. And the Jews is called by the MYSTERY of the Seventh Trumpet, which is two prophets, Elijah and Moses. And they come back, and there's where the Pentecostals is all mixed up. They're looking for something to happen, and the Church is done gone, and that's to the Jews.

42-2 And in Isaiah 27:12 and 13 is where He sounds that trumpet and all of the nations will recognize Israel's in her homeland, God with her. Then the Bride will come to be with the Bridegroom, and the Bridegroom with the Bride (and then the great millennium, after the whole world is destroyed by atomic power; and there'll be a new heavens and new earth) shall live forever.

Look right under... Now, notice. The MINISTRY of Moses and Elijah will... Now, everybody get it? Let me say it again. The MINISTRY of Moses and Elijah, between the Sixth and Seventh Trumpet, will be two prophets that will... They... Israel always believed their prophets.

42-4 Now, why did the Holy Spirit say to me (when I started up to there to show them that He was the Son of God), said, "Not yet"? You remember that about five years ago on my way to India? Said, "Don't do it."

I said... They said, "If this be the Messiah, let us see Him do the sign of the prophet; we believe the prophet."

Brother Lewi Pethrus and them sent me those Bibles, when he give a million of them out to them Jews coming from Iran and everywhere coming back, assembling themselves together, become a nation.

I thought, "This is my time." I was already in Cairo, Egypt. He said, "Don't do it now; the hour is not yet." Then I returned home.

42-6 Oh, my. Moses and Elijah's got to call. The Pentecostal jubilee's still going, or had up till this time. See? Now, the Feast of Trumpets has to be known. And this one over here of Malachi 4 is not connected with that one over there: not at all, not at all.

Notice. Watch here. The MINISTRY will be Moses and Elijah, changing and calling Israel from the Jewish traditions (Listen.), from the Jewish traditions that they been mixed up in (being prophets, they believe--they'll believe Him), calling them to the Feast of the Atonement (Christ), letting them recognize Christ. They'll say, "He's coming, He'll be here." The Jews will be gathering, things like that, and then when He comes say, "Here I am." See?

REVELATION.CHAPTER. ONE_ JEFF.IN ROJC 9-67 SUNDAY_ 60-1204M 100 And the Book of Revelations has more symbols in it than all the rest of the Books in the Bible. It has more symbols because it is a Book of prophecy. It's a prophetic Book. Therefore it has to be understood by a prophetic class. This Book is not meant for everybody. There's nobody can understand it hardly. This Book is made for a certain class of people. On over in Deuteronomy It says, "The hidden things belong to the--the Lord." That is right. And He reveals to us, His children, the hidden things. So it doesn't go...

REVELATION.BOOK. OF.SYMBOLS_ JEFF.IN V-13 N-6 SUNDAY_ 56-0617 Spoke of in symbols and by animals and so forth, and like great armies and so forth, that marches on, and runs over the walls and so forth, of different, like locusts. And everything was in symbols and parables and straight teachings, and everything come down to those two subjects.

REVELATION.BOOK. OF.SYMBOLS_ JEFF.IN V-13 N-6 SUNDAY_ 56-0617 16 The Book of Revelations was the sealing of the last testimony of the Lord Jesus.. And it was given... The first chapter, we'll start at. I was thinking maybe we'd have start over in some of the other symbols. Now, the whole Book is written by symbols. There's hardly anything just direct with the Word, where you just place it right out and say... It's by symbols. And God has a way of doing that and a reason for doing it. God does nothing without He has a reason behind it. And would anybody (this is a class now), would anybody have a thought, the reason He did that? Here it is; so He could hide it from the eyes of the wise and prudent, and would reveal it to babes such as would learn. Isn't He kind, to do us that way?

TWO.VINES.THE_ SHREVEPORT.LA SUNDAY_ 56-0311A E-19 Now, in the setting forth of prophecy, we have to notice that God uses many parables, such as many times He said like when Jesus, at the inauguration, all the high places was made low; the mountains skipped like little rams, and the leaves clap their hands: many symbols in the Bible.

LAMB'S.BOOK. OF.LIFE_ JEFF.IN SUNDAY_ 56-0603 Notice, a woman appeared in the sky to the--the vision of John the Revelator, and the--she was clothed with the sun. And the moon was under her feet, and she had twelve stars in her crown. Now, what does that symbol? Visions are symbols.

CHURCH.AND.ITS. CONDITION_ JEFF.IN CH 1-34 SUNDAY_ 56-0805 25 Now, the--in the ark there was a dove. And the dove is represented in many places in the Bible as symbols of the Holy Spirit. And also the lamb is represented in many places in the Bible as Christ, in the Revelation, all the way back to Genesis, and so is the dove.

Comment; Now why I believe Moses and Elijah are symbolic in nature and NOT 2 separate MEN over in the calling of the Jews.. I did not include the reference messages these quotes appear in, perhaps later. You can search the message and find them.

There never was in the age, any two major prophets on the earth at one time. There were many minor prophets, but there were ONE major prophet. And Elijah was the prophet until Elisha came. Then when Elijah was taking off, a portion, double portion, of Elijah's Spirit, Elijah's Spirit came upon Elisha. See, always remember this, God takes His man off the earth, but never takes His Spirit. His Spirit comes right back down this a way. It come upon Elijah, went off of Elijah onto to Elisha, off of Elisha It come on John the Baptist, off of John the Baptist, and is predicted to come again in the last days, the same Spirit. See? It's God's Spirit. Now, God always uses a--a prophet, a man. If you use a bunch of man, you get different ideas; see, each man, two man. Never did He have two major prophets on the earth at one time. He takes one, so the other one can take its place for another day, another message. He never has two, He has one at a time. And the infinite God never changes His program, He must always stay with what He started with. That's the reason we can have confidence in what He says, He cannot change. If He saved a man on the basis of his faith in God, the next man will have to be saved the same way. Just like, He could've chose the sun to preach the Gospel. He could've put--chose the moon. He could chose the--the wind, but He chose man. And He never did choose groups; individuals. See, the... And never two major prophets on the earth at the same time. See, every man is different. He's got a different makeup. If God can get one person (That's all He has to have.) right in His hand, He can do what He wants to. He just has to have one. God always deals with one individual. Two men's got two ideas. There never was two major prophets on the earth prophesying the same time. Look back and see if there was. No, sir. Too much scrupled up. He's got to get one man completely surrendered and use that person. He searches for that person, but there will be one sometime, somebody who will listen to Him word by word. Now, God never did use some man-made program to honor Him, unless just put it to disgrace. God always uses a single individual, just one; never an organization, never a denomination. He uses one single person, because we different, all, one from another. There was never two major prophets on the earth at one time. Never. See, He doesn't do it, because He just speaks to that one. When that one is gone, He raises another to speak at that time. Remember, that's always been His program. Now, He promised that, so that sets the Bible just exactly to this day, and the Sodom and Gomorrah. And Elijah was not... That wasn't Elijah; That was the Spirit of God on Elijah; Elijah was just a man. Now, we've had Elijahs, and Elijahs' coats, and Elijahs' mantles, and Elijahs' everything. But the Elijah of this day is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is to come according to Matthew the seventeen-.. . Luke 17:30, says the Son of man is to reveal Himself among His people. Not a man, God! But it'll come through a prophet. Now, He never had two major prophets at the same time, never, in the world. See? No matter how much there's... two--two heads can't... It has to be one head. God has to get one man under His control. Before we close this section on the messenger of the Laodicean Age, we must seriously consider these two thoughts. First, this age will have ONE Prophet-Messenger. Revelation 10:7, says, "When he (singular) shall begin to sound." There has never been an age where God gave His people two major prophets at one time. He gave Enoch (alone); He gave Noah (alone); He gave Moses (he alone had the Word though others prophesied); John the Baptist came ALONE. Now in this last day there is to be a PROPHET (not a prophetess-- though in this age there are more women purporting to give God's revelation than men), and the infallible Word says that he (the prophet) will reveal the mysteries to the end time people, and turn the hearts of the children back to the fathers.

Comment: He would have to change His program if 2 physical men, Moses and Elijah came on the scene, at the same time, to call out the 144,000. He will not do it for you nor your traditional ideas..

Many miss Him by the way He reveals Himself. Now, man has their own ideas of what God ought to be and what God is going to do; and as I have made the old statement many times that man still remains man. Man is always giving God praise for what He did do, and always looking forward to what He will do, and ignoring what He's doing. See, see?

41-5 {265} So He was so simple... For four thousand years every prophet spoke of Him. David sung of Him, and all down through. And when He come, the people had their own idea built up what He must do, how He was going to do, how it was all explained, drawed out on charts, and everything till when He come in that real simple way, it just--it just ruined their theology. See? They didn't know it. See, He come according to the Word. Now, do you believe that God spoke through the prophets that that Messiah would come in a certain way?

42-1 {267} And yet He was so simple till those great scholars (>> message preachers <<) had got it so mixed up, till they missed it. But you know Jesus didn't come contrary to the Word; He come according to the Word, but contrary to their interpretation. See? He taught things that was against their ecclesiastical training about Him.

43-2 {273} Oh, my. That hit their polish too hard. See? Their educational ethics could not swallow that. Their interpretation of the Scriptures knowed nothing about that, but yet it was the THUS SAITH THE LORD. Oh, my. Shivers me to think it. And to see the same thing reoccurring again... God cannot change.

56-6 {366} And the disciples... Now, think of it, disciples (>> message believers <<) who had walked with John, talked with him, eat with him in the wilderness, set down on the bank, they said, "Why does the teachers say that Elias must first come? You say you're going up to the crucifixion and going to rise; you're the Messiah, take the throne. Now, why does the scribes... All of our Scriptures say here--the Scriptures plainly says that before the Christ shall come, that Elias will come first." See? He said, "He's already come, and you didn't know it." 57-1 {368} I'm going to hurt here in just a little bit now, but I don't mean it. See? For the next few minutes (See?), just a minute too; but so that you'll be sure to understand. (Can you hear me?) Look: Why... Them men who'd walked with Christ, "Why does the Scriptures first say that Elias must come," and they were John's own converts and didn't even know him. Why did the Scriptures say, the teachers? (>> message preachers <<) Can you see what I mean? "Why does the Scriptures say that Elias must first come?" Disciples (>> message believers <<) that walked with him. "Why does the Scriptures say that he must first come before these things and restore all things?" 57-2 {370} Jesus said, "He's already come, and you didn't know it. But he done just what the Scriptures said he would do. He restored them, you all, that received Me and believed on Me. He done exactly what the Scriptures said he'd do. And they did to him what the Scriptures said they would do. He's already come, and you didn't know it." Are you ready? I want to shock you a little bit. The rapture will be the same way. It'll be so simple; no doubt it'll be likewise, till the rapture will come one of these days and nobody will know nothing about it.

35-…And that's the same thing they're doing now. They got a church and they believe in Jesus Christ, and say they do, (>> message believers <<) and things, but deny the hour we're living in. Still brings the old proverb back again: Man always praising God for what He has done, looking forward for what He would do, and--or will do, and ignoring what He's doing, and being condemned by it. See? They think God's wonderful, how great He is. What He's going to do, He's going to come, and be a rapture someday and go home; and denying the very signs and wonders right here at the time that the Scripture says that He'll be doing it; miss the whole thing. "If the blind lead the blind," Jesus said, "they'll all fall in the ditch." Just pray God to open our eyes in this last days. All right.

The rapture will come in such a simple way till the judgments will fall, and they'll see the Son of man; they'll say, "Wasn't we supposed to have such-and-such... And wasn't there supposed to be Elias sent to us? And wasn't there supposed to be a rapture?" Jesus will say, "It's already happened, and you didn't know it." God in simplicity... See?

E-26 Notice. On the road over they were once... When you set here I want you pay close attention... They were talking about Him when He appeared to them. Now, that's the way He comes, is when you're talking about Him. The trouble today, we talk about so many other things besides Him. We always talk about what we got to do in some business deal, or the washing's got to be done, or this kind of detergent you ought to use, when you ought to be giving Him praise and glory. There's... Where our treasures is, there our heart is also. They should have recognized Him, but they never. And so is it today. Yet the Scripture said it. See? He--He revealed to them the Scripture promises concerning Hisself for that age. Remember, He began with the beginning. He said, "Oh, fools, and slow of heart." He explained to them the Scriptures. And after the Scriptures had been preached to them, yet they didn't recognize Him. If that isn't in a modern congregation, I don't know. See?

E-27 They--the Scriptures explained to them, and still they didn't get it. They was walking around claimed to be His disciples. (>> preachers of the message <<) Still they never recognized Him after He'd done told them the Scripture for that age, where God had allotted it. He said, "Don't you know that Christ should have suffered these things, and entered into His glory, and raised again?" He --they should've knowed it. He said, "Know you not all the prophets said about Christ?" And He begin back there and explained the whole thing down to them, and laid it out to them. And still they never recognized Him. After laying the Scripture out, just as perfect as it could be, and then walking around it, supposed to be His disciples. "Oh, is that so? Is that so?" And yet He was that Scripture fulfilled standing there. And still they didn't get it. See?

E-28 Now, that's just a very good picture of the day we're living in. I don't say that bad. I say that for the truth. That's exactly right. They still didn't recognize Him, though His promises that He had made was fulfilled, and He was declaring it to them, and standing right there in the Person. And still they never recognized Him. Notice the rebuke to them for not recognizing the Scripture fulfilled, now, when they should have known. They were disciples. (>> message preachers <<)They were men who had done great sacrifice. They was men who loved Him. They were man who were trained by Him. And yet, after Him telling them these things, stand in the company, and saying this thing would happen, and here it had happened, and still them standing right with Him after His resurrection, and did not recognize Him. You say, "Could we do a thing like that?" It could be possible we could do that. That's right. It could certainly be possible. After He'd promised in His Word the thing that He was going to do, and we see it come to pass just as He said, and still we walk over it. That's what they had done. And He had come right around, and told them He was going to be crucified, raise up the third day, begin then to tell them all about it.

E-29 And they was sad, said, "You know, some of the fellows went down to the grave, and some of the women. They said He would raise up from the dead. All this rumors got stirred around." Said, "Are You just a Stranger around here, You don't know these things?" He said, "What things?" just like He didn't know nothing about it. See, He said that just to throw them off. And He did that purposely, just to try. And don't you know He doesn't change His nature? He does the same thing, just to--to try you, see what you will do. He'll work around some way it'll be throwed before you, just to see what you--what you say about it, your attitude, the way you take, what you think about it. He does that purposely. E-30 … You say, "Well, how would I know what was right and wrong?" It's the promised Scripture for that hour. It's the Scripture that's promised. If they would've got out of their traditions, and got away from that tradition that they were in, and read the Scriptures like He told them to do. "Search the Scriptures; for in Them you think you have Eternal Life: and They are that that testifies of Me. They tell you Who I am." And they said, "Well, now, rabbi told us this and that. We--we believe what the church says. (>> big name preachers <<) " See? It ain't what the church says; it's what God says, what God says, not what the denomination says, or that. You believe God. Now, and that's where they failed, because they were so traditioned that they failed to recognize Him.

E-31 Now, we find then He said--He rebuked them. Watch. "Fools and slow of heart to understand all the Scriptural signs and things that took place of this age. Fools, slow of heart to understand all that the prophets have said that should take place in this day, all these signs that you see. The Bible said these signs were to take place in this day, and you see them taking place. And then are you foolish enough not to believe it?" And Him talking that straight to them, and yet they didn't recognize it. Talk about blind... Could we do that? Might be we could, if we don't search the Scriptures to find what hour we're living in (See?) what hour, what's... It's maybe later than what we think it is. Yet they claimed to be His disciples. They claimed to believe, (>> message believres <<) that they had believed every Word that He had--He had said, they believed all the Bible (>> believed all the message <<). And here was the--here was the Messiah, the God of the Bible, standing there in identification, identifying the very written Word. And they were supposed to be believers of that Word. And Him referring back and telling them that, "You remember what was said about this, and what was said about this? And how Jesus must do this, or, how the--the Christ must do this? And how He..." All these things and yet they didn't understand it. They didn't know. >> They still don’t know, though Christ has perfectly identified Himself in His second coming, they say, “well, I think it is this way, or that way… all the time failing to believe the scripture <<

E-32 What was it? They knowed the Word as far as the letter was, but they didn't understand the Word when It was literally interpreted. That's what it is today. Every man's got his own interpretation, when God condemns the whole thing. God does His Own interpretating. If God said He'll do a thing, He does it. That's the interpretation thereof. God interprets His Own Word. There He was standing there, His Own Interpreter. Hallelujah. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does His Own interpretation. He doesn't need any seminary or any ministers, me, you, or no one else to interpret Him. He promised it, and then He turns around and does it. That settles it. That interprets Itself.

WHAT.IS.THE.ATTRACTION?_ JEFF.IN V-8 N-8 SUNDAY_ 65-0725E

58 Now, we see... And let us go back in the Scriptures and take some other unusual events, just for a few more minutes, when God fulfilled His prophecy. When God says anything, He's going to do it. All heavens and earth will pass away, but that Word can never pass away. So It usually causes a scene, an unusual scene. Notice how ridiculous that the Word of God to a--a people who's supposed to believe It, (>> message people <<) and yet It's so unusual they cry out, "Well, what's this? Where'd you get that stuff? Who is this? What is this?" When they ought to have been screaming, "Hosanna to the King that cometh in the Name of the Lord." (But there's just a little group doing that, just a little group. (>> only the Elected Bride of Christ <<) Of four thousand years of prophecy, for the greatest thing that could ever happen to the nation, for all the hope of the dead rested upon It, all the future laid in It, and the religious people that claimed they believe It was screaming out, "Who is It? And what's this attraction?" Something unusual! About the same, it just don't change, now unusual.

208 Time hasn't changed. People are designed the same as they was then. Hebrews 13:8 said, "He's same yesterday, today and forever." Now I'm going to close by saying this: The question isn't to them anymore. They asked, "Who it is?" But in 1964, the question is: "Who do you say It is?" What's this all about? Have you stopped to search the Scriptures? Who do you think This is? Is it mental telepathy? Is it some wild something out of the wilderness yonder somewhere, like they said, "John was a man, wild, drowning people in water out there." When, Isaiah said he'd be there, the forerunner. Malachi said he would be there just exactly. Them prophets said, "This prophet will rise right up there to forerun it." And here he was.

209 They said, "That's a wild man. Stay away from him. See? Don't have nothing to do with him." And here comes the Messiah, just exactly what the Scripture said, "That He would ride in the city upon the foal of an ass. Meek and lowly, upon the foal of an ass, coming into the city, that the Scriptures might be fulfilled." And here stands the people at a religious feast again, like Balaam, at a religious feast, saying, "Who is this?"

210 And today, the Scriptures promised for this hour, friends, It's fulfilled right in our midst, hour after hour. Who do you think It is? Let us study about It when we bow our heads.

But as the Queen run through and said, "Don't be troubled, there is a man who can understand the supernatural." And O Lord, we're so glad that there's One in our midst tonight, the Holy Spirit, the supernatural. And You're calling a Church in the realms of supernatural. The sputniks in the sky, all these things show destruction's at hand. And then we are taught that the Church shall go before the tribulation. Noah went into the ark before the rain fell. The angel said to Lot, "Come hither, for I can do nothing till you come out." O, Lord, the Church will go before that time. And when we see the handwriting on the wall, the sputniks sailing the earth around; and the world in a quaking condition, how close is the rapture of Your Church then? They must go hither before anything can be done.

And as these Magis moved through the street, they stirred from the king to the porter with this message, "Where is He? Where is He at?" They didn't have the answer. And today when sputniks are sweeping in the skies, when signs of total annihilation is at hand, when women and men are indulging in sin and living in an ungodliness, the people scream, "What meaneth this?" And the church doesn't have the answer. She's laying asleep. But the Holy Spirit, God's immortal and eternal Light, is here to shine upon whosoever will and can receive It.

Now, here she is with a sputnik. We tried to fire one the other night; we thought we was going to do just as much as they did; rose three foot off the ground and fizzled out. Too much rock-and-roll and sin, we're weighed in the balance and found wanting. God, be merciful. What are we going to do? What would happen if they'd send those sputniks up with those missiles, and say, "Surrender, or become a pile of dust in five minutes"? Of course, our government, to save life, would surrender. That's the only thing they could do. Then what would happen to some of you Americans, all of us in here; not here, but I mean nationally speaking? Nationally speaking.

HANDWRITING ON THE WALL_58-0309M

What's the meaning of these sputniks in the skies? What's the matter? What is this modern Babylon that we're trying to build a machine to take us to the moon? You'll never make it. What's it all about? Science don't know. They're in a mad rush for something, and they don't know what it is, but there is a Man. There is a Man Who knows what it's all about; He was the One Who wrote it here. He knows how to read this Word. Oh, He knows what It means, for He's got THUS SAITH THE LORD. He promised it, "The works that I do shall you do also. If they call Me Beelzebub, the Prince of the house, how much more will they call His household." The handwriting's on the wall. The sputnik's in the skies, great earthquake everywhere, volcanoes coming up, tidal waves a breaking the shores... What is it? The handwriting, not only in the skies, but on earth. "There'll be signs in the heaven and on earth, men's heart failing. ("Oh we don't know what to do."), perplexed of time, distress..." What is distress? Distress between the nations, all of them. Just let one missile fly; that does it. What is it? There is a Man Who can interpret it.

O blessed Lord, it is written and You have said that the Scriptures cannot be broken, that if the righteous be scarcely saved, where will the sinner and the ungodly appear? And knowing now, with sputniks in the skies, and a heathen nation, that God has raised up to bring judgment to us, that we could be doomed before morning... And in all the signposts pointing at the end time, and Your blessed Spirit coming into our midst and doing the very thing that You said that would take place, and America gropes in her sin of rock-and-roll and all these other things, unconcerned, eating, drinking, marrying, given in marriage, building, doing sin, "lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof." We're not alarmed, Lord, You said it would be this way. We're just happy to know that we're living in this day to see it. Judge us now, Lord, and give us mercy while the mercy is still flowing free.
